Follow the instructions below and the easy step-by-step guide on how to send money to Tanzania, Uganda or Rwanda from Mpesa mobile money.

Thanks to MPesa’s collaboration with MTN Uganda, MTN Rwanda, and Vodacom Tanzania, you can now transfer money to East African countries via MPesa Global Pay.

To use this service, ensure you are registered on MPesa, and the recipient is subscribed to MTN (for Uganda and Rwanda) or Vodacom (for Tanzania).

Additionally, activate MPesa Global Pay on your line before using it. Follow these steps to register:

1. Dial *840# on your MPesa line.
2. Accept the terms and conditions.
3. Provide your physical address or nearest road.
4. Enter your MPesa PIN.
5. You have now successfully registered for the Global Pay service.

Transferring Money From MPesa to Vodacom Tanzania:

1. Dial *840#.
2. Select “Send Money Abroad”.
3. Choose “Send to Mobile Number”.
4. Select Tanzania from the country list.
5. Enter the recipient’s Vodacom mobile number in international format, e.g., 255xxxxxxxxxx.
6. Input the amount between KSh. 101 and KSh. 250,000.
7. Choose the source of funds, e.g., salary or business.
8. Specify the purpose of the funds.
9. Confirm the recipient’s name and the amount in Tanzanian shillings.
10. Tap “Accept”.
11. Enter your MPesa PIN to finalize the transaction.
12. You will receive notifications from MPesa and MPesa IMT once the transaction is successful.

1. Dial *840#.
2. Select “Send Money Abroad”.
3. Choose “Send to Mobile Number”.
4. Select Uganda from the country list.
5. Enter the recipient’s MTN mobile number in international format, e.g., 256xxxxxxxxxx.
6. Input the amount between KSh. 101 and KSh. 250,000.
7. Choose the source of funds, e.g., savings or business.
8. Specify the purpose of the funds.
9. Confirm the recipient’s name and the amount in UGX.
10. Tap “Accept”.
11. Enter your MPesa PIN to finalize the transaction.
12. You will receive notifications from MPesa and MPesa IMT once the transaction is successful.

The recipient will get the money in Ugandan shillings.

9. Confirm the recipient’s name and the amount in Rwandan Francs.
